December 24 - Christmas Eve

Christmas was a busy 4 day event, therefore it shall receive 4 posts ... chuck full of pictures of course :)

Here's our first Christmas Eve as a family in the quickest nutshell. We had received yet another snow storm. Mike was able to get out of the driveway to go to work. Colin and I got stuck in. My parents came over to help shovel us out, help me wrap some gifts while one entertained Colin, and swapped some gifts we were hiding at each other's houses.

A shot of the house going into Christmas Eve before all the extra snow came down.

Once Mike got home, we quickly changed to head to church. Our church offers a 5, 7, 9, and 11 service and we figured the 5pm would fit best with Colin and his bedtime. My parents graciously offered to babysit him, so we could both enjoy the entire service. It was a wonderful service that set the mood for Christmas.

Our special delivery holding his favorite bell after church while I found all of our new Christmas jammies.

By now, it's past Colin's bedtime, so the opening gifts was a little overwhelming for him. We opened a few of his from us. He loved the wrapping paper and like everyone said he liked it more than the actual gifts. Until, he opened his new ride-on toy.

His facial expression on that one is hilarious. I had given the ride-on toy as a suggestion for Christmas, so I didn't want to open it incase he got another one. The poor kid's favorite toy had to stay in the box. He didn't seem to mind too much.

We by now means took pictures of every gift we openned but here are a few things. We got him a life jacket for all the fun he's going to have this summer at Brandon and Shaina's new house and on their boat and at the lake.

Clearly he hated being held in it.

"What the heck is in here? I can't quite get my head far enough into it."

Growing up, Mike's dad always would read 'The Night Before Christmas' on Christmas Eve. Mike started the tradition with Colin this year.

Before we put C down to bed, we sprinkled some Reindeer Food outside. Although it was way over Colin's head, we are trying to start our traditions and fun customs.

Here's my present from Colin from daycare. How sweet, huh? Hopefully this is my first of many homemade gifts from my baby.

Mike and I made a nice meal and then took turns opening our own presents before heading to bed.
